Zaleski State Forest (and OBBA2)

Last Weekend, I was in Zaleski State Forest, and over the several miles of trial we covered, evidence of migrants and early breeding activity were everywhere. White-Throated Sparrows were singing all over the place, even though they don't breed here, and the number of eastern towhees calling, singing, and defending territory was simply amazing! SW Ohio OYBC trip to Spring Grove Cemetery

Today was the first big (as in planned) trip for the South West Ohio Chapter of the OYBC. Five people showed up, with 1 of them (myself) under the age of 18. We went to Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH, and while the official title said we were looking for crossbills and grosbeaks, our main focuses were on species that were a little more likely in southern Ohio such as Fox Sparrow, Merlin, Red Breasted Nuthatch, Pine Siskin and Purple Finch.
