Yesterday I came back from a wonderful weekend at Prarie Rose Farm. Had a great time. Got to see Big Brown Bats and Little Brown Bats up close and when they flew (wow, big size difference) and had an amazing view of 4 flegling screech owls - such an amazing sight. Everyone was really fun. Got to see some really cool fish, archery and frisbee was anothing thing that united us and it was an amazing experience to stand on the rocks of a camp fire, all shivering and cold, we all talked about our interests and learned so much more about each other! Happy Birthday Sarah!

Very eventful summer... not birdy at all though. The trip to Delaware was the only one with birds really. Hanging out with friends is really fun... and going to different places...

I go to Cape Henlopen State Park Delaware. I find Piping Povers, BlackSkimmers, Least Terns, Oysteratchers, Tricolored Herons, Fish Crows, Boat-tailed Grackles, and a Black-bellied Whistling Duck after it was reported on the listserve. Trip was very successful.

After a dramatically terrible and disasterous weekend with only bad news and nothing else, finally the silver lining shows: My parents said they might get me the same expesive model ($400). If they will, i feel so much better.

Went over the weekend to Magee Marsh. It was really fun despite the slow day. Saw a total of 107 different species of birds. Highlights incluede Little Blue Heron, Yellow-headed Blackbird, and three Soras in the open. 20 dif. warblers also were seen. Nothing unusual. Last week was the best. Last Saturday saw my first Worm-eating warber. Now am trying to get some classmates to be interested in birding. So far, it is working.

Right now, I just got back from the Ohio Young Birders Club Field Trip I Northwestern Ohio. Highlights from the Trip for me inclueded the Western Meadow Lark and the American Pipit. Both were lifers for me. At Ottowa, the Great Horned Owl chicks have really grown much bigger since last week. Saturday, birding was awesome - it was hot, and i even wore a short-sleeved short. On the otherhand, today was supposed to be even warmer, but i wish i wore a winter jacker - it was freezing despite the promise of 60 degree weather. Anyway, i birded with some awesome people and had a great time.

I saw my first warbler yesterday and it wasn't a Yellow-Rumped, but a beautiful Pine Warbler. There were actually two of them at Oak Openings. Besides the warblers, i got to see the most amazingly tame MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD that wasn;t scared of anyone. The birding trip yesterday was awesome. I came together with Henry, Jaimie, and Jason and we birded from before the sun came up till it went down. I woke up at 3:20 am to get ready. I was on the road by 4:30. I got home at 9:10 pm. During this all day birding trip, other highlights inclueded 3-4 Vesper Sparrows at Oak Openings, a Snowy Egret at Magee, and seeing several Great Horned Owl nests with fleglings inside at Ottowa. It was an awesome day during which I saw 87 different species of birds. Can't wait for more warblers to start comming through.
