A Little Bit About Me
My name is Sarah Winnicki and I am a 14 year old from Ohio.
You may know me from a few of the OYBC activities- I attended the Gull Walk in January for the last three years, the last two July Bio- Blitzes, the Kelley's Island adventure on September 12-14, the 2008 Conference, the Nov 08 field trip, and the April 09 field trip. I am normally the one freezing my pants off.
I'm up to 220 birds. My favorite sighting was the Californian Condors at the Grand Canyon the first week of August. I posted some pictures of them (Read my lengthy discussion called "Condor Saga"- it's only 4-5 pages long and featured in GW). My favorite recent sighting was a snowy owl at Burke Lakefront on Sunday the 23rd. I guess you could say that my best recent sighting was the Smith's Longspur last trip. My most recent lifer was a Yellow-headed Blackbird.
My birding "Hit List" currently features: Blackbellied Plover, Black Skimmer, Saw whet Owl, any Bittern, and a Cerulean Warbler. They are my nemesis.
I have always liked to bird, but I only started really doing a lot about three years ago. I saw a notice about OYBC in the Plain Dealer and joined in on a frigid Gull Walk, and have really been obsessed ever since. (That was Ethan's fault... he started talking about his life list and I've been hooked ever since. Thanks Ethan!) My friends think I'm so weird.
Besides birding, I also:
Run on the High School Varsity Cross Country team
Play the piano, accordion, and trombone
Participate in a bunch of school activities, such as Envirothon
Attend church at a Jesus Divine Redeemer, a Roman Catholic Church
Participate in 4H and 4H Junior Leaders
Volunteer all over the place, like the County Parks and my church
I also do a lot of stuff- I just cannot remember it all. Birding is my favorite.
